Hammock Counselling

Hammock Counselling offers affordable therapy, provided by trainee counsellors under the supervision of qualified healthcare professionals (QHPs).

In the event that safeguarding concerns arise, they are reported and managed by the QHP team. If the assessment indicates the need for specialist care, you will be promptly informed and referred to more suitable services.

Eligibility & Urgent Support

Hammock Counselling is not a replacement for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. For any medical concerns, we recommend consulting with healthcare professionals.

This service is not suitable for individuals experiencing psychotic or manic episodes, complex diagnoses, or those requiring specialist psychiatric care or coordination with their GP/psychiatrist. We also do not provide crisis intervention. If you are at immediate risk of harm, please contact emergency services, the NHS, or the Samaritans.

Should the pre-screening or assessment indicate the need for urgent support, we will direct you to your GP or other appropriate services.

Hammock reserves the right to terminate therapy if a client’s needs exceed the scope of our service, with appropriate referrals made as necessary.

Initial Assessments & Bookings

All clients seeking Hammock Counselling services must complete an assessment. These assessments are managed via Janeapp, with payments processed through Stripe.

Our self-referral system begins with a pre-screening questionnaire, followed by selecting an appointment time from the available schedule. Once payment is made, you’ll receive a confirmation email. The 45-60 minute assessment provides a space to discuss your needs, ask questions, and help Hammock Counselling determine the best match between you and a therapist.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

Sessions can be cancelled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the session without charge. Cancellations within 48 hours will incur a charge, and the session must be rebooked through the website.

If you are more than 10 minutes late to your assessment, it will be considered a no-show, and no refund will be issued.

Clinical Oversight

All assessments are supervised by QHPs, who ensure that the therapy provided is suitable for your needs. The QHP team reviews your clinical history, medications, and any other relevant details before confirming your suitability for a trainee therapist.

Remote Assessments & Safety

Assessments are delivered remotely. If the clinical team feels more information is needed, a pre-assessment call may take place to gather further details. In some cases, we may need to cancel the assessment and direct you to alternative resources. If the pre-screening form suggests a remote consultation isn’t appropriate, your session will be refunded.

GP Information & Confidentiality

If necessary, we may contact your GP or emergency services if we have concerns about your safety or the safety of others. We will inform you of any such contact whenever possible.

Hammock also has a responsibility to report any concerns about drug trafficking or potential terrorist activities, as well as any incidents of gross misconduct by trainee or qualified counsellors, to the appropriate authorities.

Private Space for Sessions

For your privacy and confidentiality, please ensure you have a quiet, private space for your assessment session. If a confidential environment is not available, the assessor reserves the right to stop the session.

Hammock Counselling – Trainee Service

Counselling sessions at Hammock Counselling cost £30. Trainee counsellors provide their services voluntarily, receiving clinical supervision from qualified, independent supervisors paid by Hammock.

Trainees are required to share certain client information with their supervisors to ensure ethical and safe practice. This information remains confidential and protected. In some cases, trainees may need to record sessions with your consent to meet training and supervision requirements. These recordings are not stored by Hammock Counselling.

Feedback & Complaints

Feedback and complaints regarding Hammock Counselling can be submitted through our website. All information will be handled confidentially, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Hammock Counselling adheres to the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy’s Ethical Framework. We do not discriminate on any grounds, and clients with disabilities are encouraged to inform us at the time of booking so that we can accommodate their needs.
